Every blogger asks this question. Everyone wants to find a purpose in everything they do. So, why do I write? There are many different ways to answer this question.
I write for me. I write because I have a lot to say. Not only do I have a lot to say, but I love to talk about my interests with others. I write because I think it’s important to express those interests in a useful and healthy way. There is something about a unified enjoyment of the same thing that makes writing more fun. When I write to you, I want to make it personal. I want you to be engaged. I also want us to learn from each other.
What’s important for me when writing is I convey my thoughts in the strongest and clearest way possible. You, the reader, need to be aware of what my ideas are, and why I have them. That’s what makes you want to write and convey your thoughts back to me. It’s plain and simple. Writing keeps the world spinning.
I write because it is a passion. I currently teach it to elementary school students. I know what it is like to teach writing to various levels of learners. Some kids I have taught how to write a basic sentence while I have taught others how to perfect their structure and organization. Writing comes natural to me. I have discovered when teaching that it does not come natural to others. However, I do believe there is an innate ability within us to write – regardless of our skills in the craft.
Writing is both a science and an art. There is a formula to teach it while there is also creativity that can make it that much more powerful. That is why I write. I want people to see that writing can make a difference. Writing for pleasure, persuasion, or information can create new ideas, and it can pull at people’s heartstrings.
This is why I write. Now, why do you write?
